proud of youngest female grandmaster
Chess prodigy Koneru Humpy has become the first woman chess player from India
to receive the Men's Grandmaster title. There is some debate about whether she
is the youngest ever woman in the world achieve this – at 15 years, one month
and 27 days (three months less than Judit Polgar's previous record). The Indian

Koneru Humpy Humpy is also the first Indian woman to achieve the men's GM
title. "The presidential board meeting of FIDE, which met on September 8 in
the Kremlin, Moscow, found her claim for the title as genuine and conferred the
GM norm on her," says FIDE vice-president P T Ummer Koya. The governing
body had examined the ratings and category of the tournaments she played to log
the required three GM norms to get the men's Grand Master and found that they
were right and genuine, Koya said. Humpy will take part in the the Second World
